i'm re-reading twilight and new moon in anticipation of the second movie's release next week and i'm shocked at how engrossing it still is, even though i've read it multiple times and the 2-3 month obsession period that followed my first reading has long since past. i didn't even want to meet up with boy when he called me last night because i didn't want to put the book down. [he had an awards dinner ($100/plate, ergo no employee spouses in attendance) last night for the associated builders and contractors association (or something similarly named) and his company won subcontractor of the year; after-dinner celebration at downtown bars ensued, which i was invited to attend.] i went, but it took the entirety of the drive for my bitterness to wear off.
why?
similarly, i read while i ate breakfast this morning and barely tore myself away. it's inexplicable. bordering on unhealthy. i want to live inside this book.
i also started playing the piano again this morning. i have the day off, so i went through my old unemployment repertoire and was surprised how well i could still play. it's been weeks since i've had any time to spend with my dear baldwin and i've missed it. my new year's resolution last january was to master clair de lune, and i've come surprisingly close. my mathematical shortcomings (cannot count to save my life) make keeping the tempo nearly impossible, but otherwise i can manage it with ease. accomplishment is sweet.
as for the rest of the day, i plan to do absolutely nothing of merit (although i might break down and do some laundry/clean up a bit) and enjoy every precious second. i asked to cut back my hours to only two days a week this month so i would have more study time, but today, i'm giving myself a much-deserved break. after frantically preparing for two presentations delivered on wednesday, i think the time is well-deserved.
onward for some q-t with lynde and quin and whip it tonight with boy and a few lib school pals. (so excited i'm finally seeing this movie. haha)
i'm kinda jealous that you made it all the way through both books before the movie was released. i could be in those books all the time, too, but like you said, it borders on unhealthy.
ReplyDeletethe movie was awesome and the first thing i do when i wake up is think, "can i squeeze it in somewhere today?" and "do i want to spend more than $7?" and then, "gosh...this is crazy!"
i loved spending so much time with you this weekend. we definitely needed it.
i am also glad that you got some MUCH deserved time to yourself because school is about to end on a crazy note, i feel.
