yesterday was my first day back to school (part 7, the college years?)
i paid $8 for a quesedilla [that in all likelihood cost ua about $1.50 to provide, ingredients, labor, and paper products included], directed a lost student standing in front of woods hall to woods hall, another to alston, and participated in a series of first-day-introduction activities, most of which required divulging which book character you identify with the most or would like most to be, etc. this actually would have been great had we had more than 2.6 seconds to come up with an answer...sigh. other than that, i'm really looking forward to the rest of the semester and i remain ecstatic about my decision to return to school and take the library route [however eerie it seems to be back in tuscaloosa, minus nearly all the people i'm used to seeing there. can we say twilight zone?].
i still don't known what i'll be doing for my assistantship, but i interviewed with the special collections library and with the cataloging dept. at gorgas, and i'm feeling pretty confident--def. pulling for the hoole job. i'm fairly convinced i have a dual-personality, and only time will tell whether history or book nerd will win out in the end [archvist v. public library? ypres, more decisions.] luckily i have two years to decide! [or more likely, i'll let whoever offers me the best job make that call.........i'm terrible aren't i?]
we're headed down to mobile tomorrow, so, please, 'ana', go the fuck away.
thankyougoodnight.
